Reflection Journal 10

Its home-based learning for production lab. To start off the day we had to tune in to Tom's session in Facebook and he gives a lot of helpful advices when it came to our production lab songs because he talked about things like balance, the melody, the arrangement of the song, and songwriting and also the theme of the song. Not to mention the fact that he gave tips on singing too because people started to ask about singing tips. Then it came to questions about the use of the metronome and there was a question asked "Is the click of the metronome something we have to get used to or something we have to naturally "click" with?" to which he answered that the metronome and its click is something we have to get used to, especially if that person is using the click for the first time. Though there are some exceptions where the individual is naturally inclined or one with the metronome.

It then comes to the project and the commenting on the pieces given. I realise the piece we had work on by adding the drums made the piece more impactful but the extreme downside to it was that we had to sacrifice the balance of the whole piece which resulted in the mood of the song being diminished. I started to comment on the others and I realised that their method of arrangement came in the form of change in mood, switch in instruments, change or addition of lyrics, tempo, or maybe even small changes in the melody. Also through the commenting, it required me to do more critical thinking and analysis so as to provide more clear and detailed comments.
