Reflection Journal 12

One thing I've realised throughout every briefing is that theres always a moment of realisation at one moment. Whether its after the briefing, during the briefing, before the briefing, that moment is still there. But for that day, it two of those moments. The first came when Leon said to push yourself and your members but not to the extent where we're pushed down. He then added, "Have you been pushing yourself?" And of course many of us thought in our heads, "No". After realising this it was like a surge of electricity coursed through and made me feel more determined than usual. The second moment was when Leon was talking about what we had to do and near the end there was a slide that said "One professional quality song that you will not be ashamed to present". Again I thought back to the past sessions when we had to present and I always had the thought back then "Maybe we could've tried this, maybe we Should've done that" and I start to become regretful or a little ashamed.

After the briefing all of us were similarly determined and serious and we started to exchange and also reject ideas unlike last time where we would meekly accept each idea without any rebuttals. After our session, we managed to successfully write the lyrics and the melody which everyone was satisfied with.

Well week 5 of production lab is here! Though before the lesson could begin, Leon gave us a talk about our progress in the production lab and lets just say its not one of his usual talks. The talk he gave to us really hit us hard, at least it hit ME hard. The realisation from what he said was actually pretty true. Although the pieces that we made did matter, what matters most was our growth and what we learnt throughout the 5 weeks of production lab. Most of the pieces we made were within my comfort zone, and for the pieces that weren't, it wasn't to the point where I was feeling too uncomfortable. I thought to myself my weaknesses and what I wasn't comfortable with, and things like instrumentals, cultural music etc etc came to my mind. Reflection Journal 2

So far this has been my favourite session in the production lab because the briefing we had was really funny but at the same time very enriching. Yet again production lab had me questioning on what "Beauty" was and how it relates to our potential future careers.When it came to the mission, I was wondering how the pieces that inspired us or has had an impact in our lives which we found "beautiful" were suppose to help us do the project. So when it came to sharing it with my group, I was rather skeptical. But then i realised that the things we were sharing with one another all had a common theme to them, which was that all 3 of us were scared to take the risk of pursuing a music-related career but these pieces inspired us to pursue them. When we realised this, we felt really happy because its something that all of us could relate to and we used that relatable experience to write a song that expressed how we feel about the paths we've chosen.
