Reflection Journal 7

We've finished production lab and its been a journey. Each group managed to present their song and also everyone managed to present their reflection on how their journey has been so far. Hearing these reflections and final songs for the term made me realise that every person has grown amd have learnt something that would aid them in thr future. Whether it was starting on a new instrument, techniques for recording, learning to songwrite, etc, each person was able to showcase and implement what they have learnt so far. I have to say, it was actually heartmoving to see how much we've grown and hear everyone's stories and experiences. Especially when it came to presenting songs, I most especially liked the piece our group presented because it was something the 4 of us were really proud of and at the same time something we could relate to. Not only that, we were doings roles or things which we weren't usually accustomed to like Jin Xiang was playing the keyboard and doing the songwriting, Hanni was also doing the songwriting and also helping with the melody of the song, Wan Yi was on the bass for the first time in Production Lab and I was doing the rap of the song. Each of these roles were something we were struggling to do but still did anyway for the sake of learning.

Also, I learnt a few things too when it came to the reflections part, majority of them were speaking about giving comments and feedback. That was when I realised i'm not that strong when it comes to that field. I think its because of the fact that i'm scared to offend people. Like when it came to giving comments, I would always try to refrain from comments that could potentially insult or offend the other party. However now thinking about it, whatever that comment is i'm witholding may spare them the offense, but also prevent them from making any improvements. So starting the next term or whatever pieces I have to comment on in the future, i'll start being honest with myself and with them and start giving comments even if they have the potential to offend someone. Though of course i'll keep in mind to say it nicely or put it in a way thats not personnel.
